The Snack Shop.
It was the place to laugh and spend quality time with a significant friend….
For years, Hobe Sound Bible College students and the community congregated at the campus Snack Shop for camaraderie, companionship and a quick snack.
Whether relaxing after exams, studying for the next class, working there to earn extra money, or encouraging one another with examples of how the Lord was working in their lives, this epicenter of student life served every function imaginable.
Unfortunately, for over 10 years, it’s fallen off use.
Not anymore. The Snack Shop—now known as the Addison Student Center—is under major reconstruction and is reopening in February. And it will be better than ever.
It’s named in honor of the Addison family – Mrs. Marilyn Addison moved her and her family of five children to Hobe Sound to serve as the Dean of Women shortly after losing her minster husband to a drunk driver. Also, her daughter-in-law Sharon Addison served as the Assistant Dean and her son Steve served as Dean of Men and later Dean of Students. Steve continues to make an incredible impact on our campus through his company, Addison Drywall.
While the tragedy changed her world, it never changed her focus – to raise her family to love and serve God. Her life’s dream was fulfilled. The Addison children attended Hobe Sound Christian Academy and Hobe Sound Bible College and all five children are involved in some form of ministry today.
The Addison Student Center will offer gourmet coffees and delicacies you’d find in an upscale café. And that’s not all. Students will operate the entire enterprise—from the register to the back room—earning school credits and money towards their school bill along the way. They’ll also learn customer service, finance, inventory, budgeting, marketing, management—invaluable business skills that will serve them throughout their lives.
We welcome your support as we bring this exciting vision to reality. We’ll provide you with regular updates on our progress and we hope you’ll prayerfully consider contributing to our efforts.
