Music Education

Let me introduce our department in four words:

FUN—Musicals, trips to concerts, New York City, Washington, DC, choir tour….Fun!

WORK—Practice, rehearsals, commitment….Work!

SERVICE—Chapel music, PR groups, choir tour, camp meeting music, tutoring ….Service!

MINISTRY—Knowing Christ and Making Him Known—through the gift of music….Ministry!

Why is HSBC YOUR School for Music?

1.  State Certification

2.  Practical Experience—Music majors accompany choirs and participate in the annual concert series. Student teachers are required to give lessons as part of their training.

3.  Ministry-Minded Teachers—Every music professor at HSBC is involved in local church music ministry on a weekly basis. Hobe Sound Bible Church, a leading conservative holiness church, will give you experience ministering on a regular basis through participation in the Singing Christmas Tree, Sanctuary Choir, Sea Breeze Camp, and weekly music ministry.

Preparing for Ministry

The HSBC Music Department is committed to preparing students in four areas. Our graduates leave equipped to:

  1. Minister effectively in the church.

Our graduates are serving in churches as music directors, pianists, and organists.

  2. Teach effectively in school music programs.

Community Christian Academy, Hobe Sound Christian Academy, Carolina Christian Academy, Indian River State College, Tuscaloosa Christian School, and the Stuart School of Music are just a few of the schools that employ our graduates.

  3. Teach successfully in the private studio.

Many of our graduates support themselves by teaching private lessons in piano, voice, string, and wind instruments.

  4. Perform music to the best of their God-given potential.

Our graduates have performed with symphony orchestras, won scholarships into graduate school, and have honored God with their musical abilities.
