Admission Process

Hobe Sound Bible College welcomes an application from any academically qualified person who desires to study in a spiritually disciplined atmosphere, and who is in agreement with the doctrinal position, ethical standards, educational philosophy, and objectives of the school. Hobe Sound Bible College does not discriminate on the basis of age, sex, race, color, national or ethnic origin, or against otherwise qualified handicapped persons in its admissions policies, employment policies, administrative policies, scholarship and loan programs.

Each prospective student should give evidence of being a genuine Christian with consistent testimony and character.

The privilege of attending Hobe Sound Bible College is contingent upon the student’s full cooperation and agreement with the policies and principles of the school. The school reserves the right to request the withdrawal of any student who does not fit in with the spirit of the institution regardless of whether or not he conforms to all specific rules and regulations of the school. Any student who willfully violates the principles of the school or whose attitude and conduct is found not to be in the best interest of the group will be asked to withdraw.

Entrance Requirements:

Graduation from high school is the basic requirement for entrance. It is recommended that high school graduates have successfully completed at least four units in English, three units in Science, three units in Mathematics and three units in Social Studies. Students graduating from A.C.E. and other nontraditional schools should have completed the requirements for a college entrance diploma.

Students who have an equivalent of a high school education, may be admitted if they have successfully passed the General Educational Development (G.E.D.) test. Anyone presenting a G.E.D. must be at least 18 years of age and must have a minimum score of 410 on individual subject tests and a minimum average score of 450 on all five tests. Total standard points required to pass = 2250.

Homeschoolers seeking admission to HSBC are required to submit official transcripts from reputable home school organizations documenting the completion of all academic work necessary for a high school diploma. If this is not possible, the student will be required to take the G.E.D. test.

Tests: During their senior year of high school, all high school seniors are required to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Test (ACT) . HSBC prefers the ACT. These tests are used for counseling and advising purposes.

Hobe Sound Bible College has been assigned the following test code numbers: The American College Test (ACT)-5471. The CLEP-5306 and the Admissions Testing Program-5306.

Photograph
A small, wallet size photograph of you is required. It does not have to a formal pose, but preferably of you only and not a group picture.

The SAT or ACT test is required for entrance.
If you have not taken either test, please make arrangements to do so and have the score sent to HSBC.

 

NOTE TO INCOMING FRESHMEN:

  1. Send a completed application to Hobe Sound Bible College Admissions Office.
  2. An official copy of the high school transcript with rank and GPA must be mailed directly from the high school to the Admissions Office.
  3. Arrange to take the ACT or SAT and have the scores sent to the Admissions Office.

NOTE TO TRANSFER STUDENTS:

A student desiring to transfer from another college must have a copy of high school transcripts and a complete official transcript of all work at each institution attended sent by those institutions to the Admissions Office at Hobe Sound Bible College.

Transfer students should note that grades lower than “C” will not transfer. All transfer students must complete a minimum of 30 hours in residence to earn a degree.

A student applying for financial aid must have a Financial Aid Transcript from the school previously attended mailed directly to the Financial Aid Office at Hobe Sound Bible College.

NOTE TO INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS:

The Government of the United States requires proof of support before accepting any student from another country into the U.S. Such support can come from a sponsor who will complete the Affidavit of Support (request from the Admissions Office) and submit to the Admissions Director at Hobe Sound Bible College, P.O. Box 1065, Hobe Sound Fl, 33475. There is no federal or state financial aid available for international students. Hobe Sound Bible College has no scholarship money available for foreign students except under certain conditions.

If you qualify for a scholarship, you must have the endorsement of a missionary known to the college. The missionary must know the student in the setting of his or her home nation and the endorsement must include the missionary’s assessment of the student’s plans for Christian service. The student must pledge to return to his/her homeland after graduation and work in the field of training.

The Admissions Committee acts to admit you when your admissions materials become available to them. These materials become the property of HSBC and are not returnable.
